Moose Factory is an island. Everything that reaches it in summer crosses the Moose River, and Innlink runs the boats that do it.
Between Moosonee and Moose Factory.
Moose Factory sits on an island in the Moose River. From break-up to freeze-up there is no road to it, and everything that arrives - people, plant, aggregate, building materials - goes across the water.
Innlink carries both ways and in both seasons: by boat through the open water, over the ice road once it is in. The same company quarries the aggregate, batches the concrete and builds the winter road, so a load can be dug, weighed, carried across and placed without leaving the company.
What we move.
Passenger transport, road and water
Scheduled and chartered passenger runs between Moosonee and Moose Factory - by boat through the open water, over the ice road once it is in, and by vehicle to the helicopter during freeze-up and break-up.
Innlink has carried students for the James Bay Lowlands Secondary School Board since 2016, every school day, in every season.
Aggregate and building materials
Sand, stone and construction material loaded at Moosonee and landed on the island, by the load or by the season.
Equipment and support
Support for work on the water and on the far bank, including loading and offloading with our own loaders and excavators.
Dredging support
Hauling and spoil management for the Moosonee waterfront dredging programme.
The boats.
Aluminium landing craft and jet boat, built for a shallow, fast river with a tide in it.
One company, both banks.
Innlink is 100% Indigenous-owned, by members of Moose Cree First Nation, and has worked out of Moosonee and Moose Factory since 1996.
The crews are local. The quarry, the batch plants and the boats are ours, so a load of aggregate can be dug, crushed, weighed, carried across the river and placed without leaving the company. When the ice comes in, the same material goes over the Wetum Road instead, which we build and maintain.
